TIGER Executive Bureau: Call for proposals (deadline: 28 February 2006)

In order to reinforce the African ownership of the TIGER initiative and to coordinate and support the execution of the initiative, in June 2005, the TIGER Steering Committee agreed to create a TIGER Executive Bureau to be set up in Africa for an inititial period of 3 years. This Bureau will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supporting the execution of the TIGER Implementation Plan.
African or an international organisation operating in Africa with adequate location, facilities as well as suitable technical and operational conditions. The Host institution shall provide, at least, adequate office space and facilities free of charge to the TIGER initiative for the required 3-year period. October 2005, at the last TIGER Workshop held in Frascati (Rome), the TIGER Steering Committee decided to organise an open call for proposals to allow interested African and International organisations (located in Africa) to submit proposals for hosting the Executive Bureau for an initial period of three years. this context, the TIGER Steering Committee invites African Institutions and International Organisations operating in Africa to offer free of charge suitable office space to host the TIGER Executive Bureau for the next 3 years.The Host Institution could also offer additional support different from the above office facilities. Such additional items will be considered as an asset in the evaluation of the proposals.
Interested organisations shall submit a proposal to the TIGER Steering Committee (to the address below).
The hosting organisation will be finally selected by the TIGER Steering Committee on the basis of a number of criteria (see Annex 1 of the Attachment).
The selected Host Institution shall sign the attached letter of Commitment (Annex 2), which represent a Hosting Agreement.
For submitting a proposal, interested organisations shall complete and send to ESA before the 28 February the Application form (Annex 1) as well as the Letter of Commitment (fully completed) and signed by the Director of the structure or an authorised representative (Annex 2).
